  Instead of paying a ridiculous $13/yr. is there a way I could just edit my domain DNS settings or other settings to have it point to my WordPress site?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  You can protest all you like but domain mapping is done done free of charge.

  There is no way to direct my domain to the web address already established?

  If you wish to map an existing domain name that you already own to a free hosted WordPress.com blog see here for purchasing the required upgrade and taking the required steps > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
  After you make the domain mapping purchase and do the set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet.
