Domain Pointing / Forwarding / Masking Help

    Hi,

    I am new to this site and have been trying to figure this out for 3 hours. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I used to blog, stopped for a while, and now have decided to do it again. Only this time I decided to go all out. I decided to purchase a domain name (with godaddy.com) thinking it could point or forward to my blog here on wordpress.

    I went to my domain changed forwarding to “enabled,” told it to forward to “http://rightwingdude.wordpress.com/” with a redirect type “301 moved permanently” with a masked domain title of http://www.rightwingdude.com. I have the domain registered under http://www.rightwingdude.com. This so far hasn’t worked. I found somewhere that I had to change the name servers to:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    and I have done that as well. However when I type in http://www.rightwingdude.com into the URL bar I get a under construction page which I made before I registered with my wordpress account and created my blog.

    I really do not know what I am doing and I am really lost. Any help again, is greatly appreciated.

    When I click on the link you provided I get your brand new wordpress blog. Is everything okay now?

    No sir, not on my own computer anyway. I just checked on my father’s computer and it works for him. Now I am thinking it could be a cookie or my cache or something. Well, I suppose as long as it is working for others that is all that matters. I am going to try clearing my cache and see if that works.

    … yes ellaella, I just cleared my cache, cookies, the whole nine yards, and for some reason the laptop that I set everything up with can not view the site.

    Aside from trying what you have, did you reboot? Sometimes that clears the cobwebs, so to speak.

    It can take from 24-72 hours for a domain to stabilize after changing the name servers.

    I just rebooted my computer and everything is now all fine and dandy. It works! That is so awesome. Thank you for your input both ellaella and thesacredpath, i’ll remember that for the future.

    hello!

    i am a new wordpress member and am having similar problems with domain forwarding. i own a domain on godaddy, have changed the nameservers to the ones you mentioned, and have enabled my godaddy account to forward to the wordpress blog.

    sadly, my domain is still not forwarding! did you end up paying the 10 credits (or any amount) to wordpress to enable forwarding from godaddy to their site? there’s an option in “upgrades => domains” to “set up a domain to automatically redirect visitors to your blog URL.”

    i am using the wordpress free blog hosting. any tips?

    What is the domain studentadvocatesforhearts? If it was recently changed, it can take some time for the DNS to work its way through the internet.

    Hi Trent,

    The domain http://www.StudentAdvocatesForTheArts.org changed registration owners 1.5 months ago thought it has been parked on godaddy for 5 years. Is this the type of change you were referring to?

    Also, do we need to buy wordpress credits in order to have our domain forward to the wordpress blog?
