Domain pointing to free wordpress.com
-
hi there,
I’m really new to all of this.
1) I bought a domain on Godaddy (www.mrdte.com) and I pointed it to a free, registered wordpress.com site (i.e. mrdte.wordpress.com)
2) I cannot seem to it to reflect as http://www.mrdte.com
3) Is it bec I have to buy a plan with WordPress.com to get the domain (www.mrdte.com) appear as I want it to be?
Please let me know, thank you so much

Hi,
You need to set the primary domain: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#setting-the-primary-domain
You don’t have to buy any plan for it.
Happy blogging!

thanks so much!
Now it says I have to buy a mapping plan for $13 to point mrdte.wordpress.com to http://www.mrdte.com. Is this correct?
Is this a per-year fee?
I hope I’m on the right course! Thanks

Hi,
I did the same process today and it worked well. Here’s what I did:
I bought a domain name from GoDaddy.
I purchased the $13 mapping plan for the domain name I bought. Yes, it is an annual fee that needs renewal every year.
I updated the primary domain to the new domain name.
In GoDaddy domain settings, I updated the Nameservers to wordpress servers.
And in a few minutes, my free wordpress blog URL (pagesfromserendipity.wordpress.com) redirected to my new domain name (pagesfromserendipity.com).In your case, I see that it’s reverse now. That is http://www.mrdte.com is redirecting to your wordpress URL. I assume you need to update the primary domain settings. Make http://www.mrdte.com as the primary domain. Of course, after purchasing the mapping plan.
Hope it helps.
