Domain problem

    Hello team,

    I would need your help to solve an important issue concerning my domain. Yesterday morning I was chatting with one of your operators in order to delete my subscription to the premium account, that I accidentally made three days ago. Therefore, I got a refund and he also asked me if I wanted to delete my domain saying “Doing so means that it will be available for purchase to other users and there’s no guarantee you’d be able to get it back.” Since I cannot transfer the domain as it only exists since two days, I said “Yes, I will buy it again by another platform”. Right now I don’t know anything about the status of my domain. It appears as “busy” if I check the availability. Please, please, please get in touch with me. I really, really, really need your support to solve this matter. I would need to understand if the domain hasn’t been released yet and if I can have the auth-code from you or I can buy it again.

    It’s really important, please, get in touch with me, also by private email so I will give you further and detailed info.

    Hi, please checkout this info regarding domains and what happens when they expire or are released:

    Domain Expiration

    The domain you have just released will likely not immediately be available to anyone else, but may be able to be retrieved if this is what you require.

    I will tag this post modlook to ensure it gets the necessary attention as this is related to an existing recent support case.

    Hi, thanks so much for your quick reply!

    I don’t event know the name of your operator. He/she was really nice to me and I would have asked him/her more things but I accidentally closed the chat so were not connected anymore.

    Anyway, you told me that I basically have two options.
    I would need WordPress.com to release the domain – it seems that yesterday morning your operator made the last operation BUT the domain hasn’t been released yet.
    Honestly I would prefer wait until you release the domain and buy it again from another platform to start working directly as I would like to do.

    In the other case, I should wait two months to transfer the domain and I would avoid to do that.

    But the most important thing is that I really need THIS domain. Could you please check the status of my domain and suggest me the best operation to do? (I don’t know if you can see my account history and detailed info about the domain or if I have to write it down here.)

    Hi Cristina,

    Honestly I would prefer wait until you release the domain and buy it again from another platform to start working directly as I would like to do.

    As the domain was cancelled so soon after registration, it should be released around 5 days after the cancellation date — around 6th November.

    We don’t receive a notification once a domain has been released so I recommend you keep checking to see if has become available over the next few days.

    But the most important thing is that I really need THIS domain.

    If you are worried about losing the domain, I’d be happy to see if we are able to restore it for you. The name servers can then be pointed to your new site until the domain is ready for transfer. However, as you are aware, the option to transfer will only be available after 60 days.

    If you have already made up your mind and would rather wait, that’s fine. I just wanted to give you the option :)

    Hi Gemma,

    first of all, thanks a lot for your support.

    Before deleting the domain, I already pointed the name servers to Siteground and from my Siteground account I am still able to see the domain status (external) as “active”. Could you please clarify that to me?

    How about if I wait to buy it but then something is wrong as the domain is still active on Siteground?

    I already pointed the name servers to Siteground and from my Siteground account

    christinevanille.com was registered through WordPress.com. This means you would have needed to update the name servers through your WordPress.com account in order to point the domain at SiteGround.

    I am still able to see the domain status (external) as “active”

    Your domain is working its way through the cancellation process at the moment. It will still show as registered until it has been released back into the pool of available domains. At this point, you can try registering it elsewhere.

    Thanks a lot for clarifying everything.

    I pointed the domain at Siteground on Monday, but I just checked this website and now it seems that the domain is pointed at WordPress.com. : http://www.dnswatch.info/dns/dnslookup?la=en&host=christinevanille.com+&type=A&submit=Resolve

    At this point, I would kindly ask you to try to restore the domain for me.
    I will wait 60 days and I will come back to you asking for the auth-code in order to make the transfer.

    Furthermore, could you please point the domain at Siteground as I did on Monday? Here the following name servers:

    ns1.it27.siteground.eu
    ns2.it27.siteground.eu

    Sure, I can look at restoring the domain. There are couple of things that need to happen before we can move forward:

    1. As you deleted your site, please create a new site in the same account for me to restore the domain back to.

    2. Your account shows the domain cost (€18) has already been refunded which means I will need to send a payment request for that amount.

    Once the domain has been restored, we can look at pointing the name servers to SiteGround.

    If you are happy to proceed, just reply to me here and I’ll sort that out for you.

    thanks for your support.

    Why should I create a new site? I don’t want to have multiple websites. I will create my website from another platform and I don’t want to create again a blog or website that I don’t use. Furthermore, how can I create a website without a domain?
