domain problem
-
Hello! I’ve been interested in making a website with wordpress for a while and I want to use a domain that is supposedly available(if I look it up with my browser it says ‘The page does not exist’) but shows as unavailable in your domain searcher. I’m looking forward buying it and create my page with it. Can you make it available or is it not possible? The domain would be abidive.com .
Thank you for your support!
Have a good day.

Hi there:
I’m showing that the domain is available for purchase currently: screenshot https://d.pr/i/iszixw
Could you try that purchase again and let us know if you still have trouble? Thanks!

Hi!
I can’t seem to get an option here for it :( https://gyazo.com/9fae2bc017e6ac6521686552f3a9394e -

Thanks for those screenshots – that helps!
I’m not sure why it’s showing available for Staff and not your account. I’m reaching out to our domains team to take a closer look and I’ll post an update once they get back to me.
Thanks again.

@0101a2 our domains team recommends that you set up the free WordPress.com site/URL first, then go through a plan upgrade process (where you can purchase the domain). They’re not sure why it’s not available for you, so we’re hoping that getting the free site set up first will shake out whatever problem you’re having with that domain.
From your screenshot, you would choose the
abdivecom.wordpress.comwhen you get to that step.Let us know if you still have this problem and we’ll be happy to take a closer look.
Thanks!

But I don’t think that’s a viable solution, I don’t want to pay for a monthly plan to have my domain shown on the search bar and I don’t want a .wordpress.com shown in the search bar that doesn’t even match my sites name either. Isn’t there a way to make it available?
Thank you for your support.

The only way to prevent .wordpress.com from showing in the address bar is to purchase a paid plan along with the domain. Purchasing the domain by itself only allows you to forward your domain to your .wordpress.com subdomain, not set it as the primary domain:

Hope that helps.

The thing is I didn’t make the webpage with a free domain, I’m waiting to buy the domain to start doing the site so it’s the primary and only domain I will be using. Just as I tried with another name I directly get the option to buy a “.com” directly instead of using the “.wordpress.com” and later have to pay for a plan to change domains.

I just want the domain to be available in the first instance because I don’t need anything past the domain, I don’t need anything from any plan, nor I can afford them.
Thank you for your support.

You will need a WordPress.com site to attach the domain to first, that’s how that works here, so we recommend registering the free site first.
Once you have that, you can add the plan and the domain via https://wordpress.com/plans
You can register a custom domain here without a paid plan, but you will need a paid plan (any paid plan) for your site to appear under that custom domain: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#set-a-primary-address
