Domain problem after moving from .Com to .Org
-
I am assisting the owner of the caratunkgirl.wordpress.com blog in moving her blog from WP.Com to WP.Org. We have successfully moved it over, however we are still having an issue with the domain name. The domain name caratunkgirl.com was originally mapped to the WP.Com address. We have since changed the nameservers on the domain to ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com per the requirement for the WP.Org mapping. The caratunkgirl.com domain was also deleted from the domain mapping in WP.Com. However, the WordPress.Com nameservers still appear to responding to DNS queries for caratunkgirl.com.
If I issue the following command on my local environment: dig @ns1.wordpress.com caratunkgirl.com, I get a response back with the WP.Com IP addresses. The same occurs by substituting in ns2 and ns3. How long does it take for WP.Com to release the caratunkgirl.com domain name from its nameserver? Because it is still responding to queries, it seems to be affecting access to the caratunkgirl.com domain.

Hi. I’m in Eastern Canada and as of this moment, caratunkgirl.com takes me to a self-hosted WordPress site. Give it some time: nameserver changes can take a few hours, and up to 72 hours to be effective.
