Domain provider and moving to another provider

    I recently was told my domain host is Automattic Inc, is that associated with WordPress? And how do I get in touch to transfer the domain to another host?

    Hi there,

    Of what domain are you speaking? The account you’re using to post here doesn’t own any sites hosted on our servers, nor do you own any domain registered with us.

    Hi kokkieh, whois lists my host for http://www.suehidalgo.com as the registrar URL is wordpress.com and Automattic Inc. I can understand your confusion, as when I go to my wordpress and login I can’t get to any pages with https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/ I seem to be in some odd limbo place for my domain. WordPress forum/chat and my Squarespace chat both keep saying Automattic Inc is my host. They seem to base that on the Whois info. I was with Squarespace and they say I was transferred (somehow and without my agreement or knowledge) – the date on Whois for that transfer is 2019-07-30. And that the domain status is: clientTransferProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientTransferProhibited How can i get out of limbo and into a place where I can get back to Squarespace or at least hop back into WP as acknowledged.

    Also kokkieh, because of the limbo – where am I on WordPress and why don’t I see http://www.suehidalgo.com there I can’t proceed with unlocking the site to transfer it.

    The domain, suehidalgo.com, is registered with us, but it does not belong to the suebhidalgo account that you’re using to post here. That domain was transferred to us on 17 January 2019 using a completely different WordPress.com account, and only someone logged into that account can make changes to that domain.

    I was with Squarespace and they say I was transferred (somehow and without my agreement or knowledge) – the date on Whois for that transfer is 2019-07-30.

    In order to have transferred the domain to us, someone would have needed to be logged into the Squarespace account that owned it in order to unlock the domain and obtain a transfer code.

    And as I mentioned above, this domain has been on our system since 17 January 2019. Whois does show a last-updated date of 30 July, but all that means is that’s the last time a change was made to the domain that caused an update at the domain registry. It is not an indication of when the domain was transferred.

    If you did not make that domain transfer to us and you believe the WordPress.com account that currently owns it does not have a right to the domain, please send an email to our registrar abuse address that appears in the Whois details, as that’s not something we can assist with in these forums:
