  Should I transfer my domain to Word Press, or should l have Word Press connect to my current provider (Bluehost)?

  Hi there, I’m not exactly sure I understand, so I’m hoping you can clarify what you are trying to set up.

  Do you have an existing site on Bluehost currently, and you are trying to migrate an exact copy of that site to WordPress.com?

  Or do you mean you are starting a new site on WordPress.com, and wish to give it a custom address using the domain you have currently with Bluehost?

  I am entirely new to this…found a site that would help me set up my own web page. Suggested I start with Blue host and I was able to establish a domain there with “………..net”. Then it suggested I go to Word Press to build my site. I went there and established an “account” and they wanted to provide me with a domain name, at a fee of course. As I already had a domain name I wanted to use that.
  Wordpress gave me the option of (1) transferring my domain to Word Press (which I think would be the thing to do), or (2) connect to my current provider (Bluehost).

  I don’t know what the difference is and don’t know how I should continue.

  You should know: I simply wanted to establish my own website to sell a few woodworking things I make. I am 81 yrs old and although I have used a computer for years I find this darned confusing. Thank you if you are able to hel

  Ah, I think someone at Bluehost misled you. I’m sorry!

  If you have hosting and a domain with Bluehost, you don’t need a WordPress.com account.

  WordPress.com is a fully hosted WordPress service and a competitor with Bluehost in an oversimplified way.

  If you already have hosting and a domain with Bluehost, you’ll use the WordPress software from https://wordpress.org/ and the good news is, Bluehost had documentation for setting that up with them: https://www.bluehost.com/help/article/install-wordpress

  To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

  If you’d like to have your site with us at WordPress.com, we’d be happy to have you here and help you along the way. But, if you’re already hosted with Bluehost, you don’t need to build a site here. :)
