Domain purchase

  Would it be correct that I can not use the domain that I purchased (wilwynn.com) to build a website for myself and my work? Who owns the website, then? Is it wordpress.com? I saw no explanation on the offer that indicated that I cannot do anything else with the domain’s name other than to point to my wordpress.com blog. It was only after I had purchased it that the advisory appeared. Please advise.

  Hi there,

  Please note that the domain: wilwynn.com belongs to you. We at WordPress.com are the domain’s registrar – that is all. We don’t own the domain, you do. You can use the domain anywhere you like by updating the nameservers. You don’t even need to point it to a WordPress.com site. You can add custom records as well if you have your own email hosting.

  If you want, you can transfer out the domain to another domain registrar as well if you wish.
