Domain purchase cancelation

  Last week, I ordered a domain. The next day, I decided I wanted to use WordPress.org and canceled the order. I found the confirmation link email on Sunday and clicked it… I have been checking every day since then, but the domain name is not available yet and in the ‘Managing purchases’ section, it does not indicate that the purchase is in the process of being refunded.
  Can you give me an update on this?

  When a domain is canceled, the registrar holds onto it for a while as an anti-fraud/scam prevention.

  If you like, I can try and reverse the cancellation. If successful, you will be able to use the domain here on WordPress.com or point your domain to a new webhost using these instructions:

  Change a Domain’s Name Servers

  And yes, it looks like for some reason only the Google Apps amount of your payment was refunded. I’ll be happy to refund the rest, but let’s figure out if you would like me to try and reverse the cancellation first, so you don’t have to pay a second time.

  I have processed that refund for you. Please be aware that it can take up to 7-10 business days for refunds to show up on your statement.

  It has been 10 business days since this conversation and the refund has not been made to my credit card. I would appreciate it if someone could check into this for me.

  I suggest you get in touch with your bank to check when the refund will show on your bank statement.

  I understand the register may hold on to the domain name for a little while to prevent fraud. How long does this vernally last? It’s been a month since I purchased and cancelled my domain and I have been unable to re-purchase it.

  Hello rlane37,

  The domain still is on the cancellation process, it can take up to 90 days to be released. You can check on the link below:

  http://who.is/whois/onelaneconnection.com

  If you ever go through this again, the best option on this case would not be to cancel the domain, since it will not be available again in a while and someone else can register. The best option is to point the domain to the other server or transfer to another domain registrar.
