Domain purchased from other account which is now closed

Hi there. I’m trying to set my paid domain as my primary site, but as it was purchased from my other (now closed) Worpress account I am getting a message that I’m unable to do this from the current WordPress account. I have paid for the Domain, but am unable to allocate it.

Hi! I’m sure we can help you sort this out. Normally you wouldn’t be able to close an account without canceling upgrades, so if the domain is still active, the account still exists. Can you try logging out and logging in with the email address that got the receipt?
Then, to set the domain as primary, you will need a hosting plan. The personal plan will work nicely if you want to set your domain as primary, and it also removes ads and gives you extra space. If you buy an annual plan, it comes with a domain credit. We can work with you to apply that to the domain you have. We just need you to log into that account first.
