Domain purchased on WordPress but transferred to Wix. Domain expired.

    Hi, I purchased my domain name from WordPress, but I cancelled the service within a few days and was able to transfer my domain name to Wix. I have had a website created on Wix for a year. Now my website isn’t available because my domain has expired. How do I renew my subscription so that I can keep the same domain name and from which company do I renew, WordPress or Wix? Thanks for your reply in advance.

    Hi there,

    When you switched to Wix, you pointed your domain to your Wix site but kept the domain registered at WordPress.com. That means you’ll need to renew the domain here at WordPress.com.

    Our records show that chingwenhsiao.com expired 25 days ago on November 7, 2013.

    Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order. You can learn more about expired domains here: Domain Expiration

    The good news is that you can still recover your domain, as it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal.

    You can renew this domain and manage all your other upgrades under Store > My Upgrades in your WordPress.com dashboard:

    Hi,

    How can I cancel my domain subscription with WordPress and register my domain name with Wix using without loosing my domain name?

    Also, When I click on my domain name right now, it’s leading me to the draft page that I created on wordpress not my website on Wix. How do I make sure that once I renew my domain subscribtion it will lead to my wix page?

    Hi there,

    If you choose not to renew your domain subscription, your domain will have to go through the domain expiration process before it will be available to register again elsewhere (for example, with Wix). This can take about 80-90 days total, and there’s no way for us to guarantee that the domain will be available again for you to register once it has fully expired.

    Because your domain registration expired, it isn’t using the Wix name servers to point it at Wix anymore. If you renew your domain, I’ll be happy to help make sure your domain is set up to use the Wix name servers so your Wix site appears when you visit the domain.
