Domain Purchasing
-
Hello,
I want to purchase a domain for my website that I have just created but I do not need the premium plan or any of the plans, the free plan will suffice all of my needs. Please advise how to proceed and what the costs are with it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Domains are no longer available for purchase or mapping individually. They are included with the WordPress.com Personal, Premium, or Business plans:

This change has been made as we work to offer the best combination of value and performance for users while still offering a completely free product for those who do not wish to purchase any upgrades.
A great way to go if you are not interested in WordPress.com Premium is to look into setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org site through a hosting provider such as Bluehost, GoDaddy, or Pressable.

I have another wordpress.com account and when I go to create a new website on there I am able to purchase or map individually. On this new account that I set up for my mother to display her photography that option is no longer available. Why is it available under my other account and not the new one?

Also, I have purhcased domains on Godaddy that I may want to forward to this wordpress site, how do I go about doing that mapping?

Hello –

You can map a domain to your WordPress.com account with these instructions:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Newer WordPress.com account are required to have a plan upgrade for domain mapping. If your personal user account is older, you would not see the same requirement.
This is mentioned at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
There are 3 ways to add a custom domain to your blog. Please note, an active WordPress.com plan is required to add a custom domain to your site.
