Domain question
-
I have purchased a domain name through godaddy.com – http://www.riseupforthenewday.net
I want when people type that to see my blog at inquisitive11.wordpress.com, in this mannerhttp://www.riseupforthenewday.net/2008/07/28/signs-of-the-times-uk-beer-sales-sharply-down/
I read the part on domain mapping and it said to go over to my registrar and switch the domain names which I did, now when I try to do the next step which is to go to wordpress > settings > domains it says to put my domain name in the box and when I click it it wants 10 dollars.
So basically my question, before I pay is, am I going the right route? Should I be paying another 10 dollars, after I already have a domain?

currently when I hit this link I made above, the blog shows up, but it switches the “www.riseupforthenewday.net” to inquisitive11.wordpress.com

The extra $10 is for “mapping” the domain to your wordpress blog, not for the domain itself. The fee you paid GoDaddy was for the right to use that name for 1 year and the $10 you will pay wordpress is to have your domain mapped to your wordpress.com blog for 1 year. It can take up to 24 hours or more for the DNS to work its way back to wordpress.com if you decide to go that route.
