  If I own a domain, but already have a website established there, am I able to host my wordpress blog there without messing up what is already there?

  Yes, but if you’re talking about hosting a blog anywhere other than here, you need to be looking for advice at WordPress.ORG instead.

  If you just want to link it to your existing site by a subdomain, just get the domain upgrade and use something like Blog.whatever.com instead of whatever.com.
