  Hello!

  I am having the worst time getting a response from WordPress about my domain and connecting email.

  Anyone have any ideas of what I can do? I am not getting a response and I need to resolve this ASAP.

  WP has been no help at all. Is it possible to “disconnect” my domain from the .com site I created so that it can be used on my self-hosted platform?

  I don’t want to transfer it. I just don’t want to use it as it’s set up.

  The best I can say is that I likely did things out of order. I started with .com, bought a domain, and now I want to go self-hosted. I have the WordPress hosting service and the email now. I just can get my domain access linked to the self-hosted platform. That affects my email and everything else.

  Hey there,

  If you’re wanting to use your domain at a different host, you should never cancel it at your current host – once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it. Also, it usually takes a few weeks for your domain registration to clear and become available once you cancel it. There isn’t an exact time, however, so you’ll be checking consistently to see when it becomes available.

  If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to your registrar

  If you recently registered the domain, you have to wait 60 days before you are able to transfer your domain to a different host, but in the meantime, you can use the domain with your site by pointing the nameservers over to your new host:
