Domain re-regestration

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I recently cancelled my WordPress subscription because it didn’t turn out to be what I wanted, however I also cancelled the domain and just starting over again, but I guess the domain is now being held or precessed because it isn’t coming back up as available on Godaddy or anywhere like that. Is there any way I can reregister just my domain name or do I just have to wait now?

    Hi tomleygreaves

Can you please let us know your domain name that you have cancelled?

I am tagging this post as ‘modlook’ for staff attention please wait for some time they will get back to you on this.

    Hope this helps.

    the page was tjaunts.com

    thanks for your help.

  • Good morning –

tjaunts.com was registered and cancelled on the same day. Typically it takes about 5 days for that domain to become available again. There’s 2 options moving forward.

    1. I restore the domain to your WordPress.com account and you edit the DNS records to point it to your new site. Then, once it’s 60 days old you can outright transfer it to a new registrar. This is an ICANN regulation with no work around available. This option would guarantee you don’t lose ownership of the domain – the safer option.

    2. You wait out the 5 days and hope to be the first one to register the domain when it becomes available again. There’s not going to be any notification as to when it becomes available and register it as new with the new provider.

Get back to me ASAP, time is of the essence if we are going to restore it to your WordPress.com account. Let me know how you’d like to move forward.
