Domain Redemption

  I need to renew my domain that expired a few months ago. I believe it is currently in redemption. Can I get some help from WordPress staff?

  Hi there,

  Is this for bakinginblackandwhite.com?

  I should still be able to get the domain back for you, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption. I’ll need you to agree to this fee before I can start the recovery process. Once you agree I can send you a link to make the payment.

  I notice you also bought a Jetpack plan earlier today. If you bought that in an attempt to renew the domain and don’t actually want the plan, I can either refund that for you, or use that payment to pay for the redemption and renewal of your domain. Please let me know which you’d prefer.

  I am fine with the fee, and it would be great if you could use the Jetpack payment to pay for part of the renewal fee. Please let me know what to do next! Thanks

  Okay, I have bad news but hopefully also good news. It appears that after I replied to you here yesterday the domain went out of redemption, and it’s not possible to restore any more. Even if we’d contacted the registrar immediately we would not have been in time to get it back, as that process takes about 2 days in itself.

  But this means the domain should be released in a few days, at which point you’ll hopefully be able to buy it again at the regular price. I say hopefully, because at the moment it’s released anyone will be able to buy it, so someone might get it before you’re able to.

  I suggest you try checking every day if it’s available again, so you can be there to register it as soon as it’s released.

  Let me know if I must refund the $99 you paid for the Jetpack plan.

  Alright- thanks for your help! I’ll be checking a few times a day until it’s released!

  And no, you do not need to refund me for the Jetpack plan. I did need to renew my Premium subscription, so I meant to make that purchase. Thanks again.
