Domain redemption renewal

  I had some confusion about transferring my WordPress domain to another hosting company, and now my domain is in redemption. It expired 12/23/2016. Can someone please tell me how long the redemption period is before the domain is released back into the bidding pool, or if it is best to renew now and pay the $80 + domain renewal?

  Hi,

  Normally the domain will be unavailable for 90 days after expiration for any domain registrar and there won’t be any guarantee that you can repurchase it once it is available again because it is a first-come first-served basis.

  Sounds great @carlalberto. Looks like I need to get in touch with WordPress staff to process the renewal. What’s the best way to make that happen?

  Hi there,

  This is for wrenpeters.com, correct? It’s definitely the safer option to try and recover it from redemption, as anyone will be able to buy it when it’s released, including domain squatters that literally sit and wait for expired domains to drop so they can buy it and sell it back tot he original owner at a profit.

  I’ve sent you a payment link for the domain via email. Once we receive payment I can contact our registrar to restore the domain.

  Would you mind giving me some more detail? I don’t see any evidence of an attempted transfer for this domain, but would like to make sure this isn’t our fault :)

  We’ve received your payment and I’ve emailed our registrar to try and restore your domain. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.
