  Why do I have to pay wordpress for a site redirect when my domain registrar can handle it.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  If you register a domain (with us or elsewhere) and map it to your site, and then move the domain to a self-hosted site, everyone who goes to your WordPress.com site will automatically be redirected to your domain, which points to your new site.

  If you use a different domain, or if you want to redirect users from a WordPress.com site without a custom domain, you would need to use the domain redirect upgrade if you wanted to redirect those users to your new site.
