Domain redirect

I recently changed my basic WordPress URL to warinhistory.wordpress.com. Problem is that my domain historyandwar.com still redirects to pastwar.wordpress.com which I had abandoned.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Domain is registered with NameBright. Should I have pushed the domain to wordpress.com?

    Hi there!

I just checked, and the domain historyandwar.com is correctly loading the site warinhistory.wordpress.com. If that’s not happening on your end, could you try clearing the browser cache to see if that helps?

Here’s how to clear your browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

    Thanks!

It is loading correctly now, even though I haven’t cleared browser cache in the meantime. Thanks anyway!

Superb! Glad to hear that. :)

    Hi,

I am having a similar problem.

    • I have had my self-hosted domain for a few months and have set the WordPress.com version of the blog to private. However, I know I am losing readers on the self-hosted side because I have received multiple requests to read the private blog when there are duplicates of the private posts on the self-hosted side.
    • I have the plugin Redirect installed on my domain and have not received any warnings from doing redirect tests. (I changed the permalinks from date/slug to /slug when I changed to self-hosting.)
    • I clear my browser cache every so often (including many times after I set up self-hosting).

So how can I stop people sending requests?

(My website is animangaspellbook.com, by the way.)

  • Hi @magicconan14, it sounds like you have an issue redirecting from your self-hosted site to the old blog here, on WordPress.com, that you set as private? We can’t really help with anything related to a site hosted elsewhere, I’m afraid.

What I can suggest is setting up a redirect from your WordPress.com site to your new address, so folks who go to your free address will know where to find you:
