Domain redirection
-
Hi, I just paid 13 euros to get my blog redirected to http://www.afghanopoly.com but the domain (which I theoretically owned through go daddy) doesn’t seem to work. It says the page is invalid. Thank you for letting me know what to do.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I see that the name servers for afghanopoly.com are pointing to WordPress.com
Name Server: NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
Name Server: NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
Name Server: NS3.WORDPRESS.COMIf your domain is registered with GoDaddy, you should be able to change the name servers in your domain dashboard there to point them to your new web hosting provider.
A redirect is good for pointing yoursite.wordpress.com to your custom domain hosted with a 3rd party host or for pointing one wordpress.com website to another wordpress.com site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
Regardless, I’ve gone ahead and flagged this for Staff attention.

Hi –
Once you get the name servers changed to the new host and away from WordPress.com this is going to work.
At the moment, I can see that, afghanopoly.wordpress.com redirects to http://www.afghanopoly.com, as expected. It is the actual http://www.afghanopoly.com where you’re running in to problems bc it is still pointed to WordPress.com which is where the redirect is coming from.

Thank you. I’m confused though. What I want is just for people who type: http://www.afghanopoly.com to be redirected to the wordpress page. Is this not the way to do it?

The peeps at go daddy are asking for the wordpress IP address. Any idea where I can find it?

Let’s back up for a minute. Perhaps I misunderstood your original intention.
Are you trying to link your GoDaddy domain to a WordPressdotcom website such as afghanopoly.wordpress.com?
If so, you don’t need a redirect. What you need to do is upgrade your site plan here on WordPressdotcom so you can map your custom domain purchased at GoDaddy to a WordPressdotcom website.

OK. Sorry for the confusion. I don’t really understand what a “redirect” is then if not that, but that’s ok. Is there any way I can be refunded then?
-
And also how this can be cancelled? Because at this stage the blog is not even available on it’s regular location. It directly goes to http://www.afghanopoly.com, which doesn’t work.
-
Hello again, You can cancel the site redirect by cancelling the upgrade in your Manage Purchases dashboard.
You can then go ahead and purchase a plan to have your custom domain mapped to your WordPressdotcom website*.
*Edited to add “website”
