  Hi

  I have already purchased a domain name with another provider. can use it with any free WordPress.com site for free?

  WP.com: Yes
  Correct account: Yes

  Hey there!

  To use your custom domain on a WordPress.com site, either by domain mapping or transferring your domain here, you’ll have to upgrade to one of the paid plans.

  You can certainly map or transfer the domain without a plan, however using your own domain on a free plan prevents you from making the domain primary, which means that when someone types your custom domain, it would automatically redirect you to your WordPress.com subdomain.

  Hi there,

  SSL is not really relevant here – all WordPress.com sites have https enabled by default, and for free, regardless of whether you’re on a free WordPress.com URL or your own domain. We don’t offer a way to opt out of using an SSL certificate.

  But to use your own domain with a WordPress.com site, requires one of our paid plans. There is no way to connect your domain to your site without a plan and our domain connection upgrade.
