Domain redirects to two different sites depending on browser

  • Unknown's avatar

I created two accounts, a wordpress account through bluehost and a wordpress.com account. I connected my domain to my wordpress.com account and it was already connected to my bluehost account. So, my domain is effectively connected to two different websites, one for bluehost and one for wordpress.com. My domain name only directs to the pages I published on wordress via bluehost site when I type in the domain name into google chrome. If I type in my domain name into any other browser, the wordpress.com site appears. I tried deleting the wordpress.com site that was connected to my domain to fix this problem but the wordpress.com website still appears when typing my domain name into any browser besides google chrome. Please help me fix this issue.

  • Hi! This WordPress.com account you’re writing from (username: zatara123) doesn’t appear to be associated with any custom domain hosted at Bluehost or elsewhere. You have this free WordPress.com-hosted site on your account:
    https://masculineenlightenments.wordpress.com/

This site doesn’t have any custom domain applied to it however!

Would you be able to share the domain you have at Bluehost? We’re happy to check if there’s anything we can find on this end.

The current site on connected to this account is not connected to the domain. We did not clarify that. The domain is masculineenlightenment.co. We believe the wordpress.com site that was connected to this domain was masculineenlightenmentco.wordpress.com. masculineenlightenment.co on google chrome currently loads the bluehost wordpress site. Any other browser with masculineenlightenment.co currently loads a wordpress.com site theme.

  • Hi there,

I’ve checked your domain name, masculineenlightenment.co, and from my end, it correctly points to your Bluehost-hosted website. This is true for all the browsers and internet connections I’ve tried.

However, the discrepancy you are experiencing across different browsers could be due to the fact that your previous WordPress.com site is still cached on those specific browsers where you are encountering the problem. This is not an uncommon occurrence when recent changes have been made to a website, as browsers often save website data to improve loading times.

To resolve this, I would recommend clearing the cache on the browsers where you are still seeing your old WordPress.com site. Here’s how to do that: https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
