Domain Registered With Some other provider
-
Hi, I have got a domain registered with some other provider as i got it very cheap there. I’ve set up forwarding on it so it redirects to my wordpress site.
Is it possible to keep the site with current provider and but it opens up my wordpress site directly instead of redirecting? do i need to upgrade or what? I don’t see any option for domain mapping currently on my WordPress site. Or is it possible to may be point current domain to wordpress name servers may be?
Please advise.
Many Thanks

Hi there,
You are definitely on the right path, You can keep the domain registered on the other platform and map it to point to your WordPress.com site by updating the nameservers. Then map the domain as long as you have a paid plan this option is available to you. You can get the clear steps and instructions for the above on this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

I had started to create a website on wordpress. I purchased a domain name without the wordpress.com. I have a site on simplepractice which shows my site name without wordpress; however, when my site is put in my browser, it redirects it back to wordpress.

Hi there,
To connect your GoDaddy domain to a site here on WordPress.com it is not sufficient to set up the redirection at GoDaddy.
Instead you will want to set up “domain mapping” here on this end, which is something that is included in any of the plans you see listed here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Once you have upgraded to any of the plans there (you may wish to try our Personal plan, which is the best value) let us know and we can walk you through the rest of the steps to get your domain connected correctly.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
