I recently got this notification that our domain name registration is about to expire. I was under the impression that I had registered through WordPress. Was I incorrect?

You have added a domain mapping upgrade for that domain, but it is still pointing to Dreamhost as you can see by the nameservers. If you want to point this domain to us, make sure to renew the registration with Dreamhost and update the nameservers to us:

Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar. You can use the domain for your site here at WordPress.com by mapping the domain, as I explained above.
