Domain Registration…

Just curious…when you register a domain name, can you change it after? Let’s say if you wanted a different domain and didn’t want the first one anymore….Or would you have to purchase a new one?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. You cannot change a custom domain once registered, no. You’ll need to register a new one and pay for it again (though if you registered the domain through WordPress.com you can receive a refund if you cancel it within 48 hours.)

OK thanks. So then if I wanted to keep the second one and not the first, I just wouldn’t renew the first domain registration when it came time right?

Yes, you can either leave the old one until it expires (just make sure you cancel auto-renew if you have it active for that upgrade) or you can cancel it immediately if you prefer. If you don’t cancel it, you just set the new domain as the primary domain and both the old domain and your free WordPress.com URL will redirect to the new domain, as explained here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#setting-the-primary-domain
