Domain registration and hosting

  Hi
  I have registered the domain http://soulverses.org through wordpress and the site is hosted at that domain. I would like to register a new domain sangeethibrahim.com and then host the wordpress site on that domain.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  If you want to start a new WordPress.com site, as well as register a new domain, please go to My Blogs in your Dashboard. Click Create Another Blog. After you’ve registered your new WordPress.com site, you’ll be asked if you want to create a custom domain. If the domain name is available, you can register sangeethibrahim.com/.

  Thanks a lot for the reply. I dont want to start a new site. I want to transfer my existing site to a new domain address that is sangeethibrahim.com. This domain name is available. Currently I have hosted my wordpress site on a domain name- soulverses. org. I have done it through wordpress help. Now I want to change that to a new domain. Seeking your advice

  Thank you for the clarification. In that case, you will go to Store → My Upgrades and Add a Domain. Follow the prompts to add sangeethibrahim.com/.

  Once the domain is live, we’ll map your existing WordPress.com site to it. We can even send all soulverses.org traffic to sangeethibrahim.com if you’d like.

  Thanks a lot
  I am not interested in maintaining the soulverses.org domain and wouldnt be renewing it when it expires. But I would love to have the content mapped under sangeethibrahim.com and of course I would want to inherit all the followers. Once I get the domain (sangeethibrahim.com) live, what do I have to do?

  To add the new domain, when you are logged into soulverses.wordpress.com/, you will go to Store in your Dashboard. Click Add a Domain and it’ll walk you through the whole process, including mapping.

  It can take up to 72-hours for your new domain and its mapping to appear online, so don’t worry if it’s not immediate.

  Once your domain is live, to make certain that all roads lead back to sangeethibrahim.com/, go to Store → My Domains. Make sure that sangeethibrahim.com is chosen as your Primary Domain.

  That’s it!

  Because your followers are technically subscribed to soulverses.wordpress.com, when you switch from domains from soulverses.org to sangeethibrahim.com/, you won’t lose anyone.
