Domain Registration and Removal

    Hi WordPress,
    I registered a domain danielparkermd.com, but then decided to cancel my purchase after I already sent it. Does this mean I still purchased danielparkermd.com and it is still registered to me? I did not receive a refund and I would still like to have access to danielparkermd.com, so how do i get this?

    Keegan here, I would be happy to help.

    Can you check your purchases section to be sure you have canceled your domain? You can check here – https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/

    If you have canceled your domain already it will not be available to purchase again for an extended period of time. Also, if you canceled after registering then no, it is not still registered to you.

    Assuming you finished the registration process, and then canceled for a refund, your domain name might be in a redemption period that a staff member can help you recover, though it costs an extra fee that is charged by ICANN. Note that if you decide to wait for the domain to be released it is possible that someone else could purchase it first.

    If you just canceled today, then your refund is still processing, you can check with your bank to see when the funds will become available.

    Hi Dan,

    I’ve restored danielparkermd.com back to your site — you hadn’t been refunded for the domain yet so there are no additional costs to pay. The next thing you need to do is to verify the domain. Please check your email account (including the spam folder) for a verification email and follow the steps there.

    There are a couple of options if you want to use the domain on a site hosted elsewhere:

    1. Transfer danielparkermd.com to your new host using these steps:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/

    Newly registered domains can only be transferred 60 days after the registration date. This 60 day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived.

    2. Keep the domain with WordPress.com and change the name servers of the domain to point to your new site:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/
