Domain registration failed

  I am trying to register my domain, and I have already paid the $18 to do so, but the site is saying that my domain registration failed. The domain I already own is (email visible only to moderators and staff), but I just bought it before trying to use it here, so perhaps that is why it is not working?

  Basically, it won’t even let me get to step 2 even though my payment has already gone through for step 1.

  Hi there! Well, (email visible only to moderators and staff) is an email address, it’s not a domain name. I think you’re referring to: katedooleyphotography.com/. Is that correct? If so, it appears as if you registered (and paid for) your custom domain here, but then registered it again at BlueHost before the registration process was finalized at WordPress.com. Please confirm if this is the case, or provide me any other pertinent details that might help me troubleshoot your issue.

  If you’d like your BlueHost domain mapped to your WordPress.com site, I’m happy to help with that. Mapping will give your WordPress.com-hosted site the custom name, katedooleyphotography.com/. Mapping is $13, so I can refund you $5 for the domain registration you didn’t utilize.

  And yes, I’d like the blue host domain of katedooleyphotography.com mapped to WordPress.

  Terrific! Thanks for clearing that up. I’ve refunded your full purchase price, so you can start the process with a clean slate.

  Here are your steps:

  1. In your site’s Dashboard, click Store.
  2. Click Add a Domain, and then Buy Now in the dialogue box that pops open.
  3. Click Map a Domain You Already Own.
  4. Enter: katedooleyphotography.com and click Go.
  5. You will be told that the domain name is already taken, and you’ll be asked, “Do you already own this domain name?” Click Yes and then continue the process.

  Once you’re done, you will have purchased mapping here at WordPress.com.

  You will also need to change your domain name servers at BlueHost in order to “point” your domain to your WordPress.com site. Those instructions can be found here:
