Domain registration issue

    I just registered a domain with another provider and just realize I could have utilize the 1 year free offer by WordPress..

    ‘Our annual and two-year WordPress.com plans come with a free domain name credit for one year, which can be used to transfer your domain…’

    So does this mean I can still utilize the offer when I transfer the domain to WordPress before its 1 year expiration date?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Domains are locked and can’t be transferred until you have owned them for 60 days. You can build a site here at WordPress.com and if you purchase a plan that domain credit you mention would enable you to map your domain to the WordPress.com site. You would still have paid your other provider for the domain though. It would have been cheaper to register your domain here at the same time as buying a plan if here is where you wish to build your site.
