Domain Registration keep charging after transferred to another Registrar?

  HI!

  I bought my domain name from Worldpress a few years ago, and than I transferred it to Godaddy later for the hosting.

  However today I received a $13.00 payment from Worldpress for the – “WordPress.com Domain Registration for my domain”. Than I check my ‘Renewals’ page from my Godaddy account and it also says I will have to renew my Domain from godaddy again in 26/10/2016?

  I am very confused, does that means I will have to pay the double in this case or do I missing something?

  Hi Lap,
  I’m assuming the domain is rustyfoxphotography.com based on your WordPress.com account and the domain’s expiration date. The domain info shows it’s hosted on Tumblr and registered at GoDaddy.

  I believe the WordPress.com payment is for a site redirect. If you no longer want that, then you can cancel the WordPress.com payment: https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/

  If you’d rather speak to a WordPress.com staff member about this, add “modlook” to the tags for this forum thread.

  HI

  thanks for the reply, but when I cancel this will that means I will also cancel my address now? which makes my website ‘rustyfoxphotography.com’ turning back to ‘rustyfoxphotography.wordpress.com’? what exactly will happen if I cancel this site redirect upgrade?

  As a volunteer, I’m not able to see the features of your account. Based on the $13.00 charge I think it’s a site redirect because a domain registration is $18.00. I see this thread is tagged for a staff member to review so they will be able to say with certainty what’s going on.

  You have the Domain Mapping upgrade for rustyfoxphotography.com. Domain Mapping is the upgrade you would purchase if you wanted to use a domain registered elsewhere (GoDaddy or 1and1 for example) with your WordPress.com site.

  So, if you would like to continue using rustyfoxphotography.com with your http://rustyfoxphotography.wordpress.com site, you will need to continue purchasing Domain Mapping.

  Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

  Thanks for the reply, that means if I am not using the rustyfoxphotography.wordpress.com anymore then I can cancel this upgrade? And my Rustyfoxphotography.com will still be functional as usual?

  That is correct.

  You only need this upgrade if you are trying to use the Rustyfoxphotography.com domain with your WordPress.com site. Since you do not appear to be doing so, you can cancel.
