domain registration notice
-
I received an email regarding domain name registration.
It began:
Howdy,
ICANN, the organization responsible for the stability of the Internet, requires that each domain name registrant be given the opportunity to correct any inaccurate contact data (WHOIS data) associated with a domain name registration. My question is in regard to these points:
Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientTransferProhibited
Domain Status: clientUpdateProhibited https://icann.org/epp#clientUpdateProhibitedThe prohibited update really concerns me.
Can you explain it? thanks,
sarah

Are you referring to this site https://thepeacefulpub.com/?
If so are you logged in under the exact same username account https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/thepeacefulpub that registered the underlying .wordpress.com site at htts://thepeacefulpub.wordpress.com and purchased the domain mapping upgrade for it?
I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

Whilst you’re waiting for a member of staff I’ll just draw your (and anyone else finding this thread) attention to the appropriate passages in the links you provided. There doesn’t appear to be anything sinister going on. It is all to do with the security of your domain name:
clientTransferProhibited
This status code tells your domain’s registry to reject requests to transfer the domain from your current registrar to another.
This status indicates that it is not possible to transfer the domain name registration, which will help prevent unauthorized transfers resulting from hijacking and/or fraud. If you do want to transfer your domain, you must first contact your registrar and request that they remove this status code.clientUpdateProhibited
This status code tells your domain’s registry to reject requests to update the domain.
This domain name status indicates that it is not possible to update the domain, which can help prevent unauthorized updates resulting from fraud. If you do want to update your domain, you must first contact your registrar and request that they remove this status code. -
Hi there,
What domain is this in reference to? Is it https://thepeacefulpub.com/ like @TT mentioned? I do not see a custom domain under your account.
If so, please post in this thread under the account that the site is under, and I’d be happy to further assist. Thanks!

I see that from whois the registrar status of the domain has those two statuses.
@themagicrobot is correct. These are normal status codes for a domain in good security standing. You can read about the statuses on the ICANN page here:
https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/epp-status-codes-2014-06-16-en
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
