domain registration, other changes?

  Hi!
  The NGO i am currently an intern at would like to change the web address from http://www.kudumbamorganisation.wordpress.com to something shorter and more accessible. As I understand it , the best way to do this is by registering a domain.

  My question is if this will include any other changes than the website address, or if the management (updating etc.) will be working the same way?

  Would be great with some help, Im not so good with these things

  The only way to do this is to buy a custom domain and mapping. It changes nothing else at all except your search engine ranking, which temporarily drops.
