Domain Registration Transfer

I have a domain name registered for many years with a well know company here in UK. I also have a hosting package with them. Separate to this I have several wordpress.com blogs running using the default wordpress.com domain name ending and with free hosting.
I now want to purchase a ‘personal plan’ with wordpress.com. This allows me to have my own domain name as part of the package
My question/s
Can I transfer the ‘registration’ of the Domain to wordpress.com from the other company. I know that I can transfer or point the Domain name I have registered with the other company to my wordpress.com site. But am I correct that I can actually transfer the ‘registration’ and that this ‘registration’ will form part of the ‘Personal Plan’. In terms of ‘cost’ it would be preferable if I was paid one company ie WordPress.com one payment that included registration of Domain and Personal Plan. ?

While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar and use the domain for your site here at WordPress.com by mapping the domain, as explained here:

Hi. Many thanks for clarifying the issue for me.
It is just too bad that this is not an option.Can I ask if this is something WordPress.com might offer in the near future? Maybe working on a solution!

I have not heard that it is functionality that would be coming anytime in the near future.
