Domain Registration/Adwords problem

Hi, new to this and need a little help.. I just set up my new blog, which is basically an online resume. When I had finished the blog I wanted to make it easy to find so I registered the domain http://www.shaneoconnor.org which is mapped to the blog page (shaneoconnorresume.wordpress.com) All of this is fine, but yesterday I tried to advertise my site on Google Adwords but it won’t allow me because my display url(.org domain) and the landing url (wordpress.com) are different. This is really annoying me as the whole point of making the site was to advertise it on google adwords.

Does anyone know an easy way I can solve this so that my landing url is shaneoconnor.org when the page opens. Like I said i registered the domain with wordpress for $17.. Can I transfer it to a different hosting site?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Set shaneoconnor.org as primary in your domain management.

    Hey Raincoaster,

When I do that it doesn’t work, from what I understand the wordpress.com site needs to be primary because it contains all the info and the .org url lands there. If I make the .org url primary it just says the page doesn’t exist… Thanks though

Your blog is redirecting properly. When I click the link I arrive on http://www.shaneoconnor.org.

All of this is fine, but yesterday I tried to advertise my site on Google Adwords but it won’t allow me because my display url(.org domain) and the landing url (wordpress.com) are different.

Why would you do that? We cannot use Google Adwords on blogs being free hosted by WordPress.com. In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

If you do require an ecommerce site, advertising and/or affiliate links you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org Refer to > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Timethief thanks for checking, all seems to be working now. I am actually using adwords to buy adspace around the search results on google for some the most influential people in my industry in Ireland. I’m hoping some of them have big egos so they google themselves and if they do an ad for me telling them they should hire me with a link to my site will pop up.. Its a long shot I know, but worth a shot to see if I get noticed.
