  I just bought domain Tipsyanalyst.com but now when i am trying to transfer my site address to this domain i am bein asked to buy paid plan further. I just want to transfer my sit to this address that’s all and no more services. Cant i get my site address updated to the one bought without paying any further.

  If you want to use that domain on a site here at WordPress.com you realy should have purchased an annual plan. The custom domain would then have been included free for the first year. You could purchase a monthly plan and then you’d be able to make your custom domain the primary one. As it is anyone typing your new domain will end up with a .wordpress.com subdomain address displaying in their browser.

  Hi there,

  As @themagicrobot indicated, a paid plan is required to use your own domain for a site hosted with us on WordPress.com. This is the case whether you buy the domain from us, or buy it somewhere else and just point it to us.

  So you’ll need to upgrade to one of our paid plans, and then add the Domain Mapping upgrade to point the domain to us:

  You do also have the option of transferring the domain to us completely, but you’ll only be able to do that once you’ve owned it for at least 60 days at your current domain provider. If you buy an annual plan and add domain mapping for now, you’ll be able to transfer the domain to us at no additional cost once it becomes eligible, and the domain will also be renewed for another year at that time.

  @kokkieh As the domain was purchased here surely mapping and transferring don’t apply? Can the OP upgrade to an annual plan and be credited the cost of the domain or is it too late for that and only a monthly plan would work?

  Hi, @themagicrobot; thanks for pointing this out. The domain tipsyanalyst.com is registered with WordPress.com, so no need to map or transfer it.

  @hemantdengla1701d2c8d9f9b3, if you’d like this domain to be your primary address on tipsyanalyst.wordpress.com, you’ll need one of our paid plans.
  I went ahead and added some credits to your account, so you won’t have to pay the difference you would have saved if you bought the plan first.
