domain renewal

I got an email saying my domain is being automatically renewed on Sept. 8 yet when I go to my account it says it is being renewed on Sept.23. I don’t have a problem with either date but am wondering why I am getting different information?

Where is the email you get coming from? Did you purchase your domain through WordPress.com or not? If you did not purchase it through WordPress.com then you will have two annual renewals. One will be for the domain name which your renew with whichever registrar you purchased the domain name from; one domain mapping which you renew with WordPress.com.

It came from wordpress and yes I purchased it through them also. Both of the renewals are combined and due same date which is actually Oct. 8. I understand they usually do auto renewals early but was confused as to why I was given two dates.

Thanks for the added information. Here our domain mapping upgrades are renewed a month prior to the expiry date so if anything goes wonky there’s lots of time to fix whatever is wonky and we don’t lose the domain. I’ll flag this thread so Staff assist you with this issue. Please be patient while waiting.

The correct date is September 8, I’m not sure why it’s saying September 23.
The domain will expire on October 8, but we renew domains a month early when auto-renew is set, as a simple failed transaction could result in the loss of the domain if we waited for the expiration date.
