I have changed my website http://www.convergencecatalystblog.com from wordpress.com to wordpress.org (www.convergencecatalyst.com/blog). I have enabled jetpack plugin in convergencecatalystblog.com connecting to wordpress with the user name – vijayramanathan. I have used the site redirect plugin to redirect the pages of http://www.convergencecatalystblog.com to http://www.convergencecatalyst.com/blog. Everything works fine.
I have a doubt with the domain renewal with wordpress.com. Now I have my website (www.convergencecatalyst.com/blog) hosted in a different server and not wordpress.com. Is it necessary to renew my domain http://www.convergencecatalystblog.com in wordpress.com for the site redirect plugin and jetpack to continue working? Pls let me know.

If anyone goes to convergencecatalystblog.com and you want to keep that traffic you need to renew the domain name – else your visitors will hit a wall and your plugin to direct traffic will get no traffic to redirect – all depends on how much traffic you get to the old domain name (convergencecatalystblog.com) and how badly you want that traffic – at some point in the future the traffic will probably drop off – depending on where the references are coming from

So u mean to say that the Site redirect plugin won’t work if we don’t renew the domain? Actually we are subscribing separately for the site redirect plugin on a yearly basis and we need to pay for the domain also for the site redirect plugin to work properly? Is there any other option? pls let me know.

Yes, if you don’t own the domain, there is nothing to redirect, as the domain will cease to function.
convergencecatalystblog.wordpress.com will still be redirected, but convergencecatalystblog.com will cease to exist.
