Domain renewal
-
Appears my domain expired about 45 days ago, although it just went offline the other day. I need to re-instate/renew it, but it doesn’t even show in my profile anymore. Whois shows the registrar as wild west domains, but I called them and they indicated that I registered the domain via WordPress, so I would have to come back to WordPress to re-instate it. I have only 15 days left before it completely is removed from the register.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Is this for the domain, dfwweddingphotography.com? That is the only domain I can see in your account records.
That domain expired in September 2016, much more than 45 days ago, and has long since been removed from our system and cancelled completely at our registrar.
That domain was released and then registered with GoDaddy.com on 11 December last year, according to the Whois information, so someone else now owns that domain and the only way to get it back is to try contacting them and buying it back from them directly:
https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=dfwweddingphotography.com
Whois shows the registrar as wild west domains
As you can see from the above Whois link, the registrar for that domain is now GoDaddy, not Wild West Domains. If you are speaking of a different domain, please give the domain and I can check if it’s possible to recover it. However, a recovery request can only come from the account that owns the domain, and your account does not own any other domains besides the one mentioned above.

No. I’m referring to alegrialifephotography.com. It shows to be registered through Wild West Domains and expired on December 14th, 2016, even though it just the other day stopped working. I called Wild West Domains and they confirmed that I registered it through WordPress.com and that I would have to go back to WordPress.com to renew/reinstate it. I previously had my site, alegrialifephotography.com, hosted through WordPress which makes sense that I registered and hosted all through you. My hosting was moved quite some time ago, but my account through WordPress continued to bill because I never canceled the hosting. I really don’t need the hosting through WordPress, but I do still need the domain and the DNS zone that configured for that domain, so my site can be accessible again.

Here is the domain in question:
-
That domain was not registered to your account. That domain belonged to the username, devotionmamaproject365, and we can only attempt to recover the domain at that user’s request.
If you own that account as well, please log in as that username and post here to confirm that you agree to the $80 fee we need to pay the registrar to get the domain back, and we can get the process started for you.
My hosting was moved quite some time ago, but my account through WordPress continued to bill because I never canceled the hosting. I really don’t need the hosting through WordPress
Hosting on WordPress.com is free, so you have never paid for hosting with us. That account has been paying for ownership of the domain, which is something completely separate from hosting.

Ok, this was an older account that was used for blogging. I guess I didn’t realize that I originally registered alegrialifephotography.com under. I still have access to the devotionmamaproject365 account and I am able to login. Unfortunately, I don’t see the alegrialifephotography.com domain anywhere under the account. I agree to the $80 fee. What do I need to do to get the domain restored and renewed? I’m desperate. My website is my business and it’s been down for several days now.
-
I still have access to the devotionmamaproject365 account and I am able to login.
Then I’ll need you to either reply here while logged in as that account, or to reply to the email I just sent to the address associated with that account. Once I get a confirmation from that account I can get the recovery process started.
-
Looks like payment has been taken care of. How long will it take to acquire the domain and activate it under the account? Also, do you still have record of the DNS zone file that you can restore, or do we need to recreate the records?
-
Will there be additional renewal fees right now to get the site active or did the manual payment reinstate the domain for another year as well?
-
The payment is for both the recovery of the domain and another year’s renewal, so there are no additional fees.
Once the domain is restored, it’s last DNS settings should be as well, so everything should be working as before. But if it’s not, I’ll let you know and help you add things back the way they were.

Normally it takes a day or two, but there appears to be a problem:
Wild West Domains told you a few days ago that the domain is with us, which is what our records also show, but when I contacted them to retrieve the domain they told me the domain is with them directly, and not in our account. So it appears we’re getting contradicting information on this.
I’ve followed up with them and are trying to sort things out. I will keep you updated.

Okay, your domain has been restored, and is again showing your Bluehost site. The email you have connected to that domain should also be working again soon.
Please let me know if you need any more help with this.
