Hi there,
I use WordPress.org – so I cannot log in on WordPress.com.
→The accounts of WordPress.org and WordPress.com are completely different. If you want to sign in WordPress.com, please use your account for WordPress.com.
How do I renew my domain?
→Let me clarify the situation. Where did you register your domain? Do you mean you registered your domain in WordPress.com?
-
I use Bluehost to host my site. I think I searched for the domain name and registered it through Bluehost, but they sent me an email saying Wild West Domains owned my domain name. So I emailed Wild West Domains and THEY told me that they could not renew it for me and I needed to contact WordPress. When I got an email from WordPress, it sent me to WordPress.com to look through my “Purchases” section – except I’ve never used this domain on WordPress.com. I use WordPress.org and have nooo idea how to renew. Does that help at all? I’m so absurdly confused and frustrated that I’m getting the runaround like this.
-
Hi again!!
It sounds confusing actually :(
Would you provide your domain name which you need help with? -
I actually don’t even use this site anymore, but I run my business on a subdomain that’s registered beneath it.
-
Thanks for the info.
Though I checked your site and domain, but I couldn’t figure out what was going on. If what you mentioned was true, http://www.elleadventure.com would be WordPress.org site. But actually http://www.elleadventure.com is WordPress.com site as far as I checked. But one more strange thing is that the name server of elleadventure.com is Bluehost one, which means your site should not be WordPress.com site.
Anyway are you sure that you can’t sign in to http://www.elleadventure.com with your WordPress.com account? If you can sign in, you can try if you can renew your domain through https://wordpress.com/me/purchases or not.
-
I just have flagged this topic so as that the Happiness Engineers can assist you. I’m very sorry that I couldn’t provide the appropriate support timely.
-
I tried, but it tells me no purchases exist on that account.
Thank you so much for your help! I do appreciate the time you spent trying to figure it out!

Hi –
You’ll be able to renew elleadventure.com when you sign in to the correct account. It’s not linked to the joyandcoffee account you’re currently signed in with.
To help you locate the credentials I have emailed the address on that account. That is the email address that you’ll need to sign in with at WordPress.com.
Next, navigate to wordpress.com/me/purchases/ and click the big red banner to renew.

@elleadventure
You are very welcome. I’m glad to hear that it resolved :)staff-zinnia
Thank you for the prompt support. I really appreciate it. The cause was very simple. But I still don’t understand the following point. Why does the domain(elleadventure.com) which is mapped to WordPress.com shows “NS○.BLUEHOST.COM” as its name server? Shouldn’t it be “NS○.WORDPRESS.COM”?If what you mentioned was true, http://www.elleadventure.com would be WordPress.org site. But actually http://www.elleadventure.com is WordPress.com site as far as I checked. But one more strange thing is that the name server of elleadventure.com is Bluehost one, which means your site should not be WordPress.com site.

Thanks for replying.
A domain can be registered through WordPress.com and used on another platform.
Of course, I know about this. But what I don’t understand is why the domain(elleadventure.com) shows “NS~.BLUEHOST.COM” as its name server although the site of elleadventure.com looks like WordPress.com site as far as I see. If the site is WordPress.com site, shouldn’t the name server of domain be “NS~.WORDPRESS.COM“
This is just a curiosity. I’m happy to know about this so as that then I can help the folks here more.
Thanks :)

Hi hacchism –
No worries. I (we) are always happy to help!
In the case of elleadventure.com we can see the following.
1. It is registered through WordPress.com.
2. BlueHost name servers.
3. The A records are point to Incapsula.comI think the issue is that step #3 is messing up from Incapsula.com the site is being pointed back to WordPress.com, thus we see a WordPress.com site.
elleadventure – have you been in touch with Incapsula about this? If you are paying for BlueHost hosting services the site should not load as a WordPress.com site.
-
I’ve never even heard of Incapsula. I believe I successfully renewed my domain name and I think once the required number of days has passed I’m just going to completely move everything to Bluehost. This is too confusing.
-
Domains can be customized through DNS changes. This is what tells the internet which version of your site should be loading.
If you are using WordPress.com for your site, we also take care of the hosting, so there’s no reason for an additional hosting provider (like BlueHost). Everything is all here in one place.
When using the WordPress installation, which is the other version of WordPress, you need a hosting provider to host your site. It’s different from what happens on WordPress.com.
More details about those differences are here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
I can help you remove the A Records that are pointing to Incapsula. Did a designer or someone else help you set up the site that may have added the A Records to your DNS settings?
Let me know if you are trying to show a WordPress.com site with elleadventure.com or a fully customized site through BlueHost – then we can get the DNS all sorted out once I know which version of WordPress you’re trying to use.

Hi staff-zinnia,
I understand completely what’s going on. I really appreciate your explanation.
Thanks!!
-
hacchism – thanks for inquiring about more details. I wasn’t very clear in my initial reply. I appreciate that :)
