Domain Renewal

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi. My domain and website look like they have been deleted, but I’m hoping that’s not the case. I was set up for automatic renewal, however, I completely forgot to update my card information so now whenever I go to look up my website, it looks like it doesn’t exist. I need to know when my website can be back up and running and what I need to do to get it back to a normal status. My domain is healinggracetherapy.com thank you.

Aloha gjohnson1985, It looks like the domain is set to expire on May 10. The page loads for me, but says it is set to private. If you want anyone to view this, you can update the privacy settings to public.

When I go into my wordpress account it says I don’t even have a site created so I can’t access anything.

  • Hi @gjohnson1985,

Are you sure that the account of @gjohnson1985 is associated with your domain purchase that you are mentioning? Please check if you don’t have any other accounts that you created before.

This thread has been tagged for an assistance from staff. Hopefully, you can get help soon. Please wait patiently.

    Thanks :)

I have one fear that it could have been my ex who hacked into my account. His username is ntswebsite. That is the only other thing I can think of. Before all of this, I was the head administrator after I changed him out of my profile. He is an IT guy and I have a strange sense that he could have potentially done something against my site and my profile. If it wasn’t him, then I simply have no idea what happened. It’s like everything changed overnight without me knowing.

  • I understood your situation. However, I can’t figure out what’s going on in your account unfortunately because I’m not a staff.

Let’s wait for an assistance from a staff.

  • Hi there,

So, two things: The domain is under your ex’s account but is set for auto renewal, so you should be fine there. However, you may be having trouble with the domain because it is not hosted with us here at WordPress.com. You’ll need to contact your domain host and see if the domain registration needs to be renewed there. Whois Data is saying that Google is your domain registrar.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

I have access to get into my domain in my google account and I see where it shows all his personal information since he registered my domain. It shows him as the registrant, admin, and tech. However, I am the one who paid for my domain and has all my card info and name.

I also see where it shows my domain as locked. It also shows that my domain is set to private instead of public. It does say that I have full permission who can act on his behalf.

I had reached out to him earlier today to ask if he had any clue as to why my website had switched to private out of no where. He has his own IT business, and so he somehow has control over my domain since I am assuming he registered my domain under his name as well as created my website in wordpress. He is now trying to tell me that my my free year of my website has concluded and that I can pay him $100 for a re-set fee and $10 for a monthly hosting fee to continue my website as well as holding a credit card on file.

Since I was the one who originally paid for the wordpress service since wordpress is the company I wanted my website to be with and hosted with, how can he try to force me into going with his company and holding my website hostage? Is that illegal in any way?

Is there a way where I can get my domain in my control completely and just remake a website entirely and have wordpress still host my site yearly? Thank you for any help you can give me.

  • Unfortunately, that is not a question that I can answer since again, the domain is registered with Google and I am not familiar with their charges. I will say that hosting with us here at WordPress.com is free, so you shouldn’t have to pay anything for hosting. So, I am not sure if he is referring to another site, but the one you have here is free and all you should have to pay for is the domain.

    Thanks,

It says that my domain should expire May 10 of this year. If I let it expire, would I be able to get it back right away?

  • You are set up on auto renew with us, so your mapping subscription should be good to go as long as your credit card is good and current.

Hello. I contacted google and they have completely switched out my ex’ information under my domain name, so now I have complete control over my domain. In order for me to start up a new website under wordpress, I want to know if wordpress can delete the old link to my domain. Because when I go to start a new site under my domain name, wordpress pops up an error message saying the domain is already mapped to a wordpress site. Which is the site that my ex has blocked from anyone to get onto it. Please let me know how I can go about this so that I can build a new website.

  • This is tricky. The mapping upgrade is under your ex’s account, so I would have to get his consent to cancel it. However, if you can show that you paid for the upgrade, I can transfer it over to you. Do you happen to still have the receipt from the purchase? If so, it should have a transaction ID that can be used as proof.

If not, PayPal can provide you with this transaction ID, which we can then verify on our end. It’s a 17-digit number. You can reach them at:

    1-888-221-1161
1-402-935-2050 (if calling from outside the U.S.)

You can find additional ways to contact PayPal here:

    https://www.paypal.com/us/contactus

When contacting PayPal, please have the following details of the transaction ready:

    – Name on card
    – Amount and date of transaction
    – Card number

All our payments are processed by PayPal (even if you paid directly with a credit card).

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

I definitely have the charge on my bank statement from May 11, 2016 for $13. I am not finding the receipt which makes me wonder if it got sent to his email.

  • it probably did get sent to his email since its under his account.

Have you tried to contact PayPal? That would be your best bet at this point.

You could also try putting your information in at wpchrg.com and see if you can find the transaction there.

    Thanks,

Ok. I was able to contact paypal and they were able to location that transaction ID number. It is 65J53552J7635904G.

Once you have verified this number, what exactly are you able to do? What access does this give me to my website?

  • I saw that you were able to get things sorted. Glad to hear!
