Hi, I got an email with the following:
Urgent! The domain upgrade for your blog thewhitehouseoxford.pub expired yesterday.
The domain upgrade on your blog ‘The White House, Oxford’ has expired yesterday on May 18, 2018. Your blog is no longer available on the domain ‘thewhitehouseoxford.pub’.
Renew thewhitehouseoxford.pub
Renewing this upgrade for another year costs £11.00. When you renew, your blog will again be available at ‘thewhitehouseoxford.pub’. Note that your blog is always available at its default address, ‘thewhitehouseox.wordpress.com’.I have been trying to renew the domain, but cannot seem to do so. Every time I click on the provided button in the email, the page does not load, and simply is blank. What can I do, please assist, thank you.

Allowing a domain to expire
When you allow your domain expire, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/.
f you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.
Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.
I’ve tagged this thread in the sidebar with modlook for Staff attention.
If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.
If you did not register the underlying .wordpress.com site then contact the person with the username account who registered it.

Did you actually register the underlying .wordpress.COM site under your thewhitehouseox account?
If you did then note what I said above you have to agree in advance to pay the redemption fee if it is not in the grace period. Then Staff will attempt to recover it.

You could read the support doc I linked to above https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/ That’s where the redemption fee is stated in $.

I’ve just read it … missed that part earlier. $80! :o *gasp*
Ok, I will have to get in touch with the owner of said pub. Thanks for your advise :)

Hi @thewhitehouseox, thewhitehouseoxford.pub was not purchased through WordPress.com, but through http://www.enom.com. That email may be a spoof as when I do a whois on that domain name it shows that it expires 2019-05-18. If you have questions on that domain name, I would advise contacting, or having the person who bought the domain go directly to Registrar at http://www.enom.com.

I did notice that there is no domain mapping active for thewhitehouseoxford.pub here on your account here at WordPress.com. It expired and was not removed. Did you want to renew the domain mapping and again point it at https://thewhitehouseox.wordpress.com/ ?
If so, domain mapping is no longer available separately, but you can upgrade to the WordPress.com Personal plan and then use that domain name.
