Domain Renewal?

  I’m a high school teacher. The teacher managing our WP site left and now I’m the admin of our site. I have an admin account and I can publish/edit posts, but I can’t renew the domain. It’s currently registered through WordPress, but I can’t access the domains page.

  I hate it when I want to give a company money, but they make it so difficult. Can someone help me renew my domain, which is about to expire? Thanks.

  Although you may be an Admin on the site it sounds like you’re not actually the owner. The owner will need to transfer site and domain to you so you can manage everything. What is the address of the domain in question?

  The domain URL is http://www.davishighnews.com. (I didn’t write “The blog I need help with is…”) It’s registered through a partner vendor of WordPress, Wild West Domains.

  The teacher is no longer here, so I don’t think she’d be able to transfer the account.

  That domain expires 5th October. The owner of the domain will really need to be involved.

  You would need to either ask the domain’s owner to transfer ownership of the site and domain to you, or recover access to their account if you have the right proof of ownership: https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

  I sent an email to the teacher who left. She forwarded the renewal (domain expiry notice) email to me. I sent her the WP support article on how to transfer ownership to me and she responded with “I’m sorry – it has just been so long that I have no idea how to even get into the account anymore?”

  She’s not tech-savvy, and communication via email, explaining how to get her username and password would be a challenge. Is there another way to transfer ownership to me?

  Ask her if she is willing to do this:

  1. Email passwordhelp@wordpress.com to recover access to the account if she is not able to get logged in.

  She should include the domain involved, and that she needs to gain access in order to transfer it to another account. We can help her with it from there once she has access to the account.
