domain renewal

  I’m just about to transfer my domain to wordpress from the current provider. As far as I recall, the domain was renewed in October 2017 for ten years. Can you tell me if this is affected by the transfer, please?

  Hi there!

  In general, if the domain’s expiration date is in 10 years, you shouldn’t need to renew it before that date. What’s the domain name so we can check that for you?

  Hi there,

  it’s http://www.the-flying-fish.com and is held by Eclipse (now KCOM).

  I also have the-flying-fish.co.uk with Heart Internet, though not using it at the moment.

  Thanks for the link, I had a look and it seems that the domain expires later this year: https://www.whois.com/whois/the-flying-fish.com. In this case, the plan you might have with your registrar will not be moved to WordPress.com together with the domain.

  You can, however, map the domain to your site instead of transferring it, have a look:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
