Domain Renewal Need After Mapping Domain TRo WordPress?

    we mapped our domain name to wordpress. now our former ISP is saying we need to renew the domain name. What will happen to our wordpress site if we dont renew our domain name? Also as our domain name has been mapped over to wordptress, and paid for, would we be right to think that even if we do not renew with our ISP hosting no one will be able to purchae that domain name as its now effectively registered and hosted by wordpress having been mappd over. any thoughts/reassurance most welcome

    This is what I know. If I do not pay to renew my domain name prior to its expiration date it can be sold or auctioned off. If I do not pay to renew domain mapping then my blog will revert to the root blog subdomain and all the URLs to the domain will be broken.
