Domain renewal through upgrade

  Hi,

  Someone else started this website and the DNS is connected to them. But they gave me full administrative access and have since stopped working on the site. Now the DNS has expired but it is saying that only the other person can renew it. If I upgrade my wordpress plan (something I was going to do anyway) would that automatically reinstate my DNS?

  Hi Robert,

  Only the owner of the domain name or plan may renew the upgrade. If you don’t see the option to renew the domain via Manage Purchases, let the owner of the upgrade know so they can renew it.

  As you have taken over the control of the website, it is better to ask the owner of the domain to transfer the domain to your account so that you can manage the domain independently in the future.

  Could you please let us the domain name which you want to renew?
  You’ll want to act fast so that you can renew the domain before it enters the redemption period if it’s not already there.

  Hi Robert,

  As @yashitamittal11 already mentioned, only the owner of the upgrade can renew it.

  In your case, it’s a domain registration that has expired. Therefore you need to contact the domain owner and have them renew it or transfer it over to your account so that you can renew it. Here are the domain transfer instructions:

  Please note that you have to act quickly as the domain has already expired and it will soon enter into redemption which will make it harder to renew. You can read more about a domain’s expiration here:

  Since I am not able to work with domain owner, is it possible to create a new domain (pastoralfellowshipstl.com) when I upgrade to premium?

  You are welcome to register a new domain, sure. And if/when the old domain is released, you can buy that one too if you’d like.
