Domain Renewal/Transfer

The person who managed our running group’s website is transferring it to me, and our domain name apparently expires today. I thought it would be $26 to renew the domain, but my options are limited to only upgrading to a premium version of WP for $99 and that’s just not worth it to our free group. I thought I would try to transfer the domain and see what options it provides, and it won’t let me do that. So now I’m stuck with the domain set to expire in a few hours. Any thoughts?

I’ve tagged this for the moderators to take a look at by typing modlook in the Tags box on the right hand side and clicking ‘Add.’ If you have a tricky problem in the future, that’s how you can get their attention, too.

What I can do is unbundle the plan so that you can renew federalhillrunners.com by itself for $26. it is currently part of the premium plan which is why you only see the $99 option.
However, I don’t see the upgrade transferred to your account yet. Let me know once it is transferred and I can take a look at the upgrade for you.

Hey guys – thanks for the quick responses. staff-doublebassd – I’m not quite sure what you’re referring to with the upgrade transferring to our account. The person who set it all up registered the domain through WP and the email she forwarded me claimed the $26 renewal. When I clicked on the link, it’s not allowing me to do anything other than potentially purchase the $99 premium version.

I think I’m realizing the issue now: I wasn’t the original purchaser. I’ve gotten to a payment page but it’s telling me I need to contact the original purchaser. Does not seem to be any way around this one. Womp.

Again, if the original owner can transfer the account to you or post in this thread that they giving consent for me to transfer the domain over to you, we can get it transferred and renewed for you.
We don’t want to lose the domain and I won’t allow use to lose it while we’res sorting this out, so let me know and I’ll take care of it ASAP. Thanks!
