Domain Renewel Error

  • Unknown's avatar

On February 3rd, I was contacted that my upgraded domain would be renewed automatically on February 4th unless I turned it off in the settings. I did so immediately, changing the setting. I also emailed Support asking how I get my Debit Card number removed from the system so that no more charges can be made to it.

However, later that same day (Feb 3rd), you guys went ahead and renewed the domain even sooner than you said you would, and now I’ve been charged a fee I didn’t want to pay. I have received no contact from support, and am not happy that the setting didn’t work.

I need someone to contact me immediately and I want my $17 refunded.

    thanks.

Sorry for the inconvenience – we can cancel the domain and refund the renewal fee, but please beware that the domain will eventually be released and you might not be able to register it again.

If that’s ok – let us know and we’ll process the cancellation and refund promptly.

I’m absolutely okay with this domain being cancelled, and it being released. I am afraid of this happening with the other blog as well.

How can I ensure that my credit card/debit card information is wiped out so that nothing can be charged to my debit card?

How long should it take before I can see the refund in my bank account? Thanks for your help and your assistance.

We don’t save credit card information, and you don’t have any upgrade set on Auto Renew so you won’t be billed automatically..

I’ve canceled the domain and processed the refund.
Refunds can take up to a week to show in your bank statement.

    I appreciate your timely response.

However, this one wasn’t set to Auto Renew either, and it still charged the original card that I purchased it with, so that information must be saved somewhere?

I have another domain that I own, and though it is not set to Auto Renew, this same error could happen as well. I want to ensure that it doesn’t, so where ever that information was being held, I want it wiped out. It had to have been somewhere for last week’s renewal to have happened without my initiation of it.

I understand your concerns, and I’ll try to clarify how Auto renew works and what happened here.

Auto renew was actually turned on for the domain that was just canceled – and we processed the renewal before you could turn it off.

It’s off now for the remaining domain, so there’s no chance of accidental charge or renewal:

We don’t keep credit card details, but an authorization token from our billing provider that allows us to renew specific upgrades year after year. Once auto renew has been disabled for that upgrade, or the upgrade deleted, we have no way of charging for it again.
