Domain rights

  Afternoon,

  I have a brief question on registering a custom domain. If I register a domain, do I retain the rights to move the domain name to another service (e.g. Google, GoDaddy, etc.). I’m not sure how domains work, so a pith explanation would be appreciated.

  As long as your domain is paid for and not expired and there is no cancellation/ chargeback etc associated with it, you can move the domain name to another service provider (See https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/) or you can keep your domain name with WordPress.com and change the name servers to host it with any third-party hosting service provider.

  Please note that you can move the domain to another service provider only after 60 days of purchase.
